Mid-Atlantic Quick Hitters

News and notes on some of the top prospects in the Mid-Atlantic.

2015 five-star Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith defensive end Josh Sweat visited Tennessee and Georgia last week. For a while, most have considered Virginia Tech the team to beat, and after talking to multiple people in the past few days, I still believe that is the case. After the Hokies, I believe Georgia is in the best shape, followed by Tennessee. However, Sweat is visiting Ohio State tomorrow, which is a huge trip for the Oscar Smith star.

2015 four-star Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes running back Jaason Lewis will make his commitment on Oct. 30. Earlier this month, the former UCLA commit narrowed his list to 15 schools. Although he claims no favorites, he said Arizona State, Florida, LSU, Maryland, Miami Oregon and UCLA are standing out at this time.

2015 Charlotte (N.C.) Victory Christian outside linebacker/tight end Michael Holmes has a top two of Kentucky and Charlotte. He is waiting to hear from Clemson, North Carolina and NC State about possible offers. If any of the three offer, I believe they would be major contenders for him.

2015 Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith running back Deshawn McClease is down to Maryland and Virginia Tech. McClease said both schools are even and that he could make his decision in the next few weeks or months. He plans to visit both schools before he makes his choice. Look for him to make a decision sooner than later.

2015 Charlotte (N.C.) Independence safety Adonis Alexander is down to Charlotte, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The Hokies lead for Alexander and he will make his decision on July 12.

2016 four-star quarterback Austin Kendall has transferred from Charlotte (N.C.) Christian to Waxhaw (N.C.) Cuthbertson. Kendall, who holds 10 offers, will possibly visit Florida in the near future.
