T.J. Simmons has been high on UCLA for a while and visiting the program was key in his recruitment. After his visit, he talked it over with his family and will now announce Monday from four finalists: UCLA, Florida, LSU, and Ohio State. The Sunshine State standout spent a couple days in California last week and got a much closer look at what the Bruins have to offer.
"At UCLA, it's a great school. I got a chance to see the coaches, the atmosphere, hang around with some of the players and really get a chance to learn the atmosphere of California," he said.
"I thought it was pretty great. I got to see a lot of opportunities that the school offers, the area, and also the records that they've broken."
"I had a chance to hang around them and it was a very family-type vibe, it was great," he said.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back also had a great time working out at the Bruins camp.
"Working with the coaches was cool. If I was going to go to California, they would be the main people I'm around, so getting to hang around them was one of the main things I wanted to do," he said.
"They just told me things I need to work on, things I'm doing well, and they were trying to get me to go to UCLA, they said I could have an impact as a freshman."
Simmons feels great about UCLA after the visit, but talking it over with his family is key too He had the chance to do that this weekend and is ready to announce his choice on Monday.
