Following a recent trip to Stanford, where he camped, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Fox trimmed his offer list to a handful of schools.
"I would say my top five, in no order, would be Stanford, Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Syracuse," Fox said. "Hopefully, (a decision will come) before the season. I want to make a couple more visits."
Fox's cousin, Brandon Simmons, is an incoming freshman defensive back for the Cardinal.
"I talked to him a lot before going out there, and he went out there on Saturday and I was out there on Friday," he said. "He told me to go out there and perform and do your best, and if you do your best, you'll definitely get an offer. He said once I got out there I would definitely love it, and I did."
Fox broke down his top five with Scout.com:
Miami: "I love their defense. I love their coaching staff. (Assistant) coach (Mark) Donofrio talks to me a lot. He's been really interested in me, so I really like that. I went down there and visited and I liked the campus and everything."
Stanford: "It was amazing, a great experience. I got to go to the junior day and then go to camp (that) Thursday and Friday. The campus is beautiful and I just loved the coaches and the coaching staff."
Syracuse: "I visited with (Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco cornerback) Daivon Ellison. I got a really nice feel up there. Coach (Scott) Shafer is a wonderful coach, and he made me feel real comfortable."
Virginia: "I actually went there for a junior day with my parents, coach (Mike) London is a good guy. He just told me they see me as a leader, and they're building their program to win the ACC championship, so I really like Virginia."
Virginia Tech: "I haven't been able to visit there, but I hope to visit there this summer. I love the whole coaching staff, and they're a great school."
