The Opening: Previewing Tyler Green is profiling each member from the East Region heading to The Opening this week at Nike's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, and in this installment we look at Ohio State safety commit Tyler Green.

Tyler Green

Position: Safety
Team: Alpha Pro
Ht.: 6-2 Wt.: 185
High school: Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha

Recruiting Situation: Green performed well at Ohio State’s camp, earned an offer and then committed. He is solid to the Buckeyes.

Scouting Report: Green reads the running game well and breaks quickly to find the ball carrier. He lowers his shoulder and makes big hits, and also tackles correctly. He can play free safety and run to either sideline to make a play, and also be physical and effective in the box as a strong safety. In coverage, Green has the speed and length to matchup well, but he needs to get stronger and work a little more on his change of direction.

At Stake: Green was a bit under the radar before he ran the 40-yard dash in the low 4.4s at Ohio State’s camp, so this is a chance for a coming out party. His projected position will be flipped to safety, and this will give him the opportunity to show he can cover down the field by himself, and also read plays well and be the deep help cornerbacks need. Look or his ranking to increase with a good showing.
