Like virtually every other junior college football recruit, Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College defensive end Timmy Hamilton envisions himself making an immediate impact at the D-I level.
Unlike most dreamers, Hamilton’s skill set indicates his dreams are attainable.
“I bring a specific thing to the table,” Hamilton said. “I can get after the passer. I’m a pass rusher with a good burst off the ball and natural instincts.
"I've worked hard to put myself in the position I’m in, but there is a long way to go. I've gotten this far and I know I got a lot more to give.”
There are three schools battling it out for Hamilton’s services.
"The plan right now is for me to visit Iowa State and Illinois during the 24th through 26th of this month," Hamilton said.
"Those visits are going to be really important because I will be able to compare schools with stuff still fresh in my mind.”
After those visits, Hamilton plan on making one more trip.
“The Arizona coaches are trying to get me down to take a visit in early August or possibly September," Hamilton said.
"I would like to get there as soon as possible, but we’re still trying to figure the exact dates out and stuff like that."
Once Hamilton does take his visits, he won't be far from a decision.
“After that visit I could envision myself deciding pretty quickly," he said. "The sooner I make my choice, the sooner I can start transitioning mentally to the place where I will be playing for the next couple seasons.
"It’s not something I want to have hanging over me, so when the time is right I will decide.”
