A lot of eyes will be watching Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne defensive back Tobias Gilliam this fall.
“Hopefully, I’ll get more offers from here on out,” said Gilliam. “I now know if all else fails, I can attend college for free with the two offers to play Division One football that I already have.
“But I’m going to Alabama this weekend and going to visit before their camp. They said they are going to be recruiting me hard and Ohio State has said they are going to offer me too if I do well at their Friday Night Lights camp later this month.
Gilliam knows with more college interest, he must take his game up another level.
“I’ve got to go 110-percent on every play,” he explained. “I cannot take any plays off as my coaches and I have talked about the fact colleges will look for reasons not to recruit you. So I can’t let me not going hard be a reason for them not to recruit me over somebody else.”
Part of his development going into this fall will also come from taking more of a leadership role.
“My coaches and I have talked about that,” he said. “I’ve been playing varsity since I was a freshman and I’m been on the field enough to be more of a vocal leader. “I’ve always been kind of a laidback and goofy guy, but my coaches want me to be more vocal and be more of a leader.”
