Marrero Talks MSU Baseball Commitment

Class of 2015 Elih Marrero, of Coral Gables (FL) High School, talks about his commitment to Mississippi State baseball.

"I actually committed to them today," said a still-excited Marrero. "I committed about 45 minutes ago."

The MSU coaches, his travel team coach and his parents were as excited about his commitment as he was.

"The (MSU) coaches were pretty excited," said Marrero. "I was too. Even my coach was happy for me.

"I'm feeling extremely happy right now. My mom and dad are very proud of me. All of the hard work that I put in has actually paid off."

He explained why he felt Mississippi State was the perfect fit for him.

"They have an outstanding program," said Marrero. "(Head) Coach (John Cohen) runs a great weight program. They are a hard-working group.

"When I sat down and talked to Coach (Cohen) he made me feel very comfortable. He made me feel right at home. And I really liked that.

"I also love how it is in a small town and how big baseball is there. It's good to have a lot of fans on your side.

"I got to tour the facilities and they were nice. The Palmeiro Center was really nice."

Marrero chose Mississippi State over offers from Miami, USF, FAU and FIU.
