Texas 7v7: J.W. Ketchum

Scout caught up with Houston (Texas) Lamar athlete J.W. Ketchum at the Texas 7v7 to get the latest on his transfer, recruiting, and more...

Houston (Texas) Lamar received a big addition to their offense with the transfer of quarterback J.W. Ketchum, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect who is on the radar of numerous programs.

Ketchum's talent was on display at both quarterback and athlete this weekend at the Texas 7v7 State Tournament.

"It's been a very fun experience. We made it all the way to the state tournament and we competed hard. We've become a better team and we have come together," he said.

"I'm just working out with the team and getting ready for the season."

Ketchum, who says he brings leadership and a strong work ethic to the quarterback position, says he also can see an improvement in his game since he started playing for the Texans.

"I've really been working on my passing and my footwork," he said.

Ketchum's recruitment has quieted a bit, though Texas, Nebraska, and Auburn are all still in the picture, but the athlete says his current focus is on his senior season.

"I think I've gone a little under the radar recently, but I really don't have any camps or visits planned right now. I'm just working out with the team and getting ready for the season," he said.
