Mississippi State Adds Murphy

Nixa (Mo.) class of 2015 running back Alec Murphy is off to the SEC to play his college ball in a place he is very familiar with.

Starkville, Mississippi may not be particularly close to Nixa, Missouri, but with family nearby and having taken many visits to Mississippi State, Nixa High running back Alec Murphy felt comfortable with the Bulldogs and that is why he committed to them today.

"It's a great school, great people, great community and the coaching staff makes it feel like family," he said when he received his offer in February. "I really like the program and the morals instilled in the players. Everyone puts in work towards a common goal."

Murphy, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound back, rushed for 1,793 yards and 22 touchdown as a junior.

He chose the Bulldogs over offers from Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State, Kansas State and more.

He becomes the 19th commitment for Mississippi State in the class of 2015.
