Harris First in Line for UTSA

Scout.com was on hand for the Texas State 7-on-7 tournament. Several top teams and players were in action. In this update, we caught up with Copperas Cove quarterback Manny Harris. The Texas-San Antonio commit looks back on that decision and informs Scout.com on how it all went down.

Sometimes being the first matters.

For Copperas Cove (Tex.) quarterback Manny Harris, he was the first, and only quarterback offered for the 2015 class. And for that, the program was rewarded with his commitment.

"I'm verbally committed to UTSA. I like the coaching staff there and coach (Larry) Coker is a good coach," Harris said. "The coaches like how I sling the ball. I was the first quarterback they offered and they got me. This program has a lot of great things going on."

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Harris did indeed sling it, to the tune of nearly 4,000 yards. Aside from UTSA, Harris also had a Texas State offer as well.

Since the commitment, things have been quiet according to Harris. He did mention that Oregon State has made some contact.

"Oregon State is still hanging in there, even though it has a quarterback committed already," Harris said.
