Francois Down To Two Following Auburn Visit

Talented QB Deondre Francois talks about his final two schools and when he plans to make his decision.

Bradenton, Fla.--Making his second visit of the summer to Auburn, four-star quarterback Deondre Francois said he enjoyed his time back on the Plains and is now ready to begin the process of making his decision. Following his visit to see the Tigers as well as a trip to Tallahassee to see Florida State, the talented quarterback said those are his two finalists as he gets ready to announce at the end of the month.

“Right now it’s between Florida State and Auburn,” Francois said. “That’s really a no-brainer who my top two schools are. I’m probably going to commit on the 31st (July) so I’m just going to take this week to soak some things in. I’ll call some people, talk to my family, and commit.”

Already with Tyler Queen committed for the 2015 class at the position Auburn is looking to continue to add some much needed depth at the position with a pair of seniors on this year’s roster. Spending time with coaches Rhett Lashlee and Scott Fountain throughout the day on Monday before getting the chance to sit down with Gus Malzahn later in the day after he returned from Bristol, Ct., Francois said the Tigers made it clear he was definitely in the picture for them.

“They’re telling me everything that any other coach has told me from other schools,” Francois said of Auburn. “They’re telling me that they want me. Outside of football they showed me the campus and everything I haven’t seen yet. I have seen everything already but they just let me know how much they want me and how successful I can be here.”

Saying that there is no clear leader for him following his week on the road, Francois said all that is left is to sit down and make his decision. Still “on the fence”, he said the tough part is ahead of him now as he looks for something to move one team out in front for the final push.

“With FSU and Auburn they are both really outstanding schools,” Francois said. “Right now I’m just trying to find one that separates from the others. They are both very similar schools so I just need to find something.

“I’m just going to pray about it and hopefully I’ll get that gut feeling on the 30th at 12 o’clock and I wake up and choose a school,” he added. “There should be an announcement at IMG.”

Tiger Ticket Note: Francois was joined on his visit by new teammate Tavares Chase. A talented 2016 wide receiver prospect that played last season at Plant City, Chase has offers from several top programs already including Auburn.

“It went well,” Chase said. “We just toured the campus. Everything I saw was real nice. The coaches are real nice too. They showed me everything and what all it has to offer. Everything they showed me was real nice.

“Big time,” he added about whether or not Auburn could be a factor for him. “That’s why I came up. They played in the championship last year and it’s a big school. I could see myself making plays for Auburn.”
