HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Orange (Calif.) Lutheran five-star outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South put his hand on the ground at The Opening and showed why he is one of the top pass rushers in the country.
Saturday, Lucier-South was back in passing league mode playing outside
linebacker for the Lancers. It’s the position USC, UCLA and several
other programs continue to recruit him at.
“D-end, outside linebacker, pretty much the same thing,” said
Lucier-South. “Coach (Jeff) Ulbrich is on me everyday. He really wants
me to be an outside linebacker for (UCLA).
“He DMs me everyday on Twitter. I really respect that because they’ve
been doing that since my sophomore year.”
But the Bruins aren’t the only ones putting the full court press on
“SC now, again,” said Lucier-South. “UCLA, Oregon, Oklahoma, Tennessee
and Notre Dame. “They all really want me to come down there to check
out there schools.
“They want me to see their campus during the summertime, but I don’t
think I’m going to make because I don’t have enough time. I’m trying to
figure out what official visits I’m going to do for the fall.”
USC’s push for Lucier-South picked up since his unofficial visit to
their campus in June.
“They took a break,” said Lucier-South. “They had a two week span for a
break. Now they’re really on me and want me to go to every game. They
want me to go to campus and check out the team.”
While USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox normally recruits Orange County
for the Trojans, Lucier-South mentioned two other assistant coaches
making an impression on him over the past few months.
“Coach (Chris) Wilson and Coach (Johnny) Nansen are on me hard,
especially Coach Wilson,” said Lucier-South. “He really likes my game
and really wants to try to work with me.
“I just want to see the team and really see how Coach Wilson coaches
Lucier-South will determine his official visit schedule in early
August. Lucier-South has yet to determine how that schedule will play
out, although he would like to take his visits during his senior
Local push for Lucier-South
