Foster Sarell Profile

Selected Quotes:
First impressions of having to deal with media? - “It’s fine. I’m not a big media guy, but I’ve got to deal with this, so I’m just having fun with it.”

First reaction to being named a Maxpreps Frosh All-American - “I was really excited to be named to that. It’s a big honor, humbles me - shows me that where I am and how hard I’ve worked to get there and where I need to get. So it humbled me, really.”

What was last year like as a ninth grader - “I played left tackle, and the SPSL is a tough league. The first game was in Idaho and I’ve never been nervous like that in my life, but I kind of calmed myself down and I got used to it. The game is a lot faster than in middle school and the first game was Curtis league-wise and they are a great team. I had to step up and I got used to it pretty quick, but I loved the season. It just kept going on and I kept getting used to it and got my technique better after the first game and carried it on.”

Biggest jumps in your game from year one to year two? - “I just want to dominate. I just want to be a dominant player in the run and pass game. Pancakes every play, no plays off, just being a mean guy and getting after it.”

Washington offered early. Any other offers since? - “Yeah. Washington, Eastern (Washington), Idaho, Boise State, UCLA - and some interest from colleges.”

Did the Washington offer take you by surprise? - “A little bit. I was really happy about it. I got to go to Sark’s office and he told me what the deal was. That was probably one of the highlights of my life. I was really excited to be in that spotlight, was real content with myself at that point.”

Have you been able to catch up with the new UW staff? - “I talked to coach (Chris) Strausser last week and I’ll be taking a tour August 6th, so I’ll be up there. I’ll have an impression by then. I’ve seen videos and I love the way they coach. Coach Strausser has put a lot of guys in the NFL at Boise State and I like what he’s doing over there. Coach Petersen…it’s going to be awesome.”

Did you have any favorite teams growing up? - “I never had a favorite. We’re a pretty neutral family, so wherever God takes me.”
