Ray-Ray closing in on decision

Four-star wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud is visiting the Gators today. This Tampa Sickles standout is down to four schools - Florida, Clemson, UCLA and Maryland.

For Ray-Ray McCloud his decision day is closing fast. This rising senior from Tampa Sickles is scheduled to make his college announcement on Monday, July 28th. Today, he’s in Gainesville visiting the University of Florida.

”I just ate and talked with the coaches,” McCloud said. “It’s mainly just T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) and D-Lew (Derek Lewis). Their message to me is simple – ‘we want you to be a Gator’.”

Florida has been hot and heavy on McCloud for some time now, especially after switching offensive coordinator with the hire of Kurt Roper. They are going to the spread attack and need explosive playmakers like McCloud. He would be an ideal fit for all four of his finalist – Florida, Clemson, UCLA and Maryland.

”They have been recruiting me for two years and they are caring people,” McCloud said. “They really care about this program. They are trying to make a change and get it back on board. I think I really fit in and they want me as a playmaker for the offense at both slot and running back.”

McCloud, 5-foot-10, 174-pounds, is a four-star recruit and now the nation’s No. 20 ranked wide receiver. He says he has a pretty good idea of what team he will commit to on Monday but things could still change.

”For the most part I know,” McCloud said. “Things can change. I might see something today. I kind of knew this summer, especially when I started seeing some other schools.”

Below are some McCloud highlights shot by Scout’s Director of Recruiting, Scott Kennedy, from The Opening.
