Christian Rector is getting closer. The 6-foot-5 and 225-pound defensive end from Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola had his summer conditioning wrap up last week and fall camp is right around the corner.
"We just finished up our last week of practices," Rector said. "It was our conditioning.
"I have been working this summer to get stronger in the weight room to be better in the run game. I have also worked on my hands for placement to help with my pass rush moves."
Rector got out for trips a couple of times this summer. He says that he is getting very closer to trimming his list. He says that he could have a top 10 list very soon and shortly after that could know some of the schools that he plans to officially visit.
"I think that I have a top 10 schools next week sometime. Hopefully I can narrow that down to a list of teams I will take official visits and unofficial visits to."
Rector is looking at the football coaches to not just be there for him on the field, but off of it as well. He is also looking for a degree that will open doors for him after he receives it.
"I am looking at the coaches -- the position coaches and the head coach -- for football and life instruction.
"I am also looking for a good degree where I can develop a network from. I want to go to a place that I will enjoy; a well-rounded school."
There is a connection between Nebraska and the head coach at Loyola. Rector admits that Nebraska could get an official visit and he has heard of some things about their home games.
"Yes I could possibly visit Nebraska again for an official visit," Rector said. "I have heard a lot about gameday in Lincoln and their sellout streak.
"I don't really know of any schools that I will definitely use an official visit to see right now. I will be sorting all of that out soon."
