Cards land Alabama RB Samuel

It's been a busy morning for the University of Louisville football program. The second commitment of the morning came from Phenix City, Ala., three-star running back Traveon Samuel. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

Phenix City, Ala., Central High School three-star running back Traveon Samuel has all kinds of interest in his college recruitment.

The electric 5-foot-8, 170-pound Samuel had offers from Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State and a handful of other major programs, recently saying he had a top three of South Carolina, Auburn and Florida State.

But all of that changed. He re-opened the process recently and on Friday gave a verbal commitment to the University of Louisville.

Samuel, who can be a running back or slot receiver in college, gave the commitment to the U of L coaches during a campus visit.

Samuel is a three-star prospect and is considered the No. 75 running back in the Class of 2015 by

He said he has been clocked at 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash and rushed for 843 yards and 10 touchdowns last season with 756 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns for Central.
