Texas Making a Move for DeAndre McNeal

The Texas Longhorns and head coach Charlie Strong have set their sights on a pair of linebacker teammates from Mesquite (TX) Ralph H. Poteet. Five-star Malik Jefferson and his four-star running mate DeAndre McNeal have the Longhorns on the short list.

DeAndre McNeal is a four-star linebacker checking in at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. He is the No 27 ranked backer in America according to Scout.com. McNeal loves the recruiting process and knows he has been blessed to have these opportunities.

"Great experience," McNeal said. "I love every bit of it; it's a once in a lifetime experience."

Why does McNeal have offers from Texas, UCLA, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Auburn, TCU, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Ohio State?

"The way I play the game and what I bring to the field is my explosiveness and the way I make people miss and getup field and score," McNeal said.

Even though McNeal has not spent a lot of time with the Texas coaching staff he is building strong relations with the defensive staff.

"Coach BJ (Brian Jean-Mary) is my recruiting coach," McNeal said. "He's a great man; we don't just talk about football we talk about life. I love the new look Charlie Strong is doing with the program."

McNeal is hearing the most from Texas, Texas Tech, UCLA and Alabama and would like to make a decision in October or November.
