DFW Weekly Recruiting Notebook

Scout.com recaps another eventful week (July 28-Aug. 3) of recruiting in the DFW Metroplex.

The middle of the summer continues to yield more commitments in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, which saw another hand full of pledges during the past week.

The action started this past Monday (July 28), when Cedar Hill 2015 running back Aca'cedric Ware (pictured above) announced on TV his commitment to USC, picking the Trojans over three other finalists in Iowa, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

Scout rates Ware as a three-star prospect. He has accumulated 15 offers, though Houston, SMU, and Texas Tech were his only in-state offers. The 6-foot, 196-pounder also has offers from Clemson, Florida, Iowa State, Maryland, Maryland, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Tuesday brought the news of Mesquite Horn four-star offensive lineman Conner Dyer committing to Texas Tech. Dyer, who Scout ranks as the No. 14 offensive guard and No. 249 overall prospect nationally, has garnered about 20 offers, including Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, and Texas A&M, among others.

Another Mesquite Horn Jaguar committed Wednesday afternoon: 2015 receiver Emmanuel Ogwo, who announced via Twitter that he committed to Iowa.

A track speedster, the 6-foot, 170-pound Ogwo chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico State, Rutgers, and UNLV.

Former Texas commit Aaron Garza took to local TV to commit Thursday night to Kansas. The three-star guard prospect from Sherman also has offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss. Garza was committed to the prior Texas staff before Charlie Strong's hire.

Friday afternoon brought good news to Horned Frog Nation, which got to enjoy the commitment of South Grand Prairie three-star receiver Jaelan Austin.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Austin has accumulated about 20 offers. He picked the Horned Frogs over an offer from Texas Tech and Oregon, which has yet to offer him but has recruited him all spring and summer. Austin also has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Boise State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, among others.

A few new offers also went out in DFW during the past week. Here's a recap of those offers:

Shane Buechele, 2016 QB, Arlington Lamar -- offered Monday afternoon by Texas. Buechele already had offers from Kentucky, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas Tech.

David Moore, 2016 QB, Prosper -- offered Tuesday afternoon by UAB during an unofficial visit. UAB is Moore's first offer.

Jamile Johnson, 2015 S, Dallas South Oak Cliff -- offered Wednesday afternoon by North Carolina. Johnson, who has 11 FBS offers, is committed to Oklahoma.
