KeShawn Somerville Up Close

KeShawn Somerville is a four-star corner prospect in the class of 2016. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Somerville checks in from Pflugerville (TX) Hendrickson High School. He is currently a Baylor commitment.

KeShawn Somerville made his verbal pledge to the Baylor Bears in early June. It has not kept the lock down corner from keeping his options open. One of those options is the Texas Longhorns.

"I think the whole recruiting process is a great thing for me because I never been through this," Somerville said. "A lot of people from my area don't get this kind of attention especially from division 1 schools, so it's a blessing to be part of it."

Somerville is a very athletic corner but the main part of his game is his physicality. Coach Strong, and the rest of the defensive staff have taken notice to the speed corner. Somerville has in turn kept an eye on Texas.

"I think all these different schools love physicality and me being able to play to play multiple positions very well," Somerville said. "You just don't find that all the time. I think Texas is going through a lot of stuff right now which is ok. A team always goes through stuff, but coach Charlie Strong is handling that very well and getting these players focus back. I just want to see what he can do this season, should be very interesting to see."

Coach Shawn Watson is his recruiting coach and while they have talked they still need to further the relationship.

"Me and coach Watson haven't talked like that, but he seems real cool and loves to watch me play," Somerville said. "The teams showing the most love right now is most likely TCU. Also, Baylor automatically shows love regardless. So Baylor and TCU are showing the most love. And I will probably be making my final decision sometime after the season I just don't know when after the season."
