Practice does not start for another week, but before the start of two-a-days Waco (Tex.) Midway safety Kahlil Haughton will have complete focus on the upcoming season.
That is probably because at that time, Haughton will have put an end to the recruiting process.
“I’m committing this Friday on twitter. Texas Tech, Duke, Arkansas, Baylor and Oklahoma are my Top 5 and the schools I will be choosing from,” Haughton said.
In the end, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Haughton had over 20 offers to choose from. He went into the reasons as to why each of the programs made the cut.
Texas Tech – It’s exciting to see a young, new staff. That program is doing some good things.
Baylor – This is a program on the rise and I have made quite a few trips there and I like the coaching staff.
Oklahoma – This is a program full of tradition and consistently Oklahoma in the hunt and has a great tradition.
Duke – An up-and-coming program that has a great football program, and solid academics too.
Arkansas – I have a great relationship and connection with the coaching staff. And the campus is beautiful too.
Haughton plays the run and pass well, being able to work man and zone coverage. He also has that coaches like his size to play in the secondary. His versatility to play either defensive back position is also a huge reason coaches want him on the roster.
His twitter handle is @Kahlilhaughton, which is where he plans to make his decision.
