Texas Recruiting Wrap (8/4)

AUSTIN, Tex. - Texas has nabbed three big commitments over the past few weeks, with a number of offers going out in the 2015 and 2016 classes. What do these commitments mean for the Horns and what's next in recruiting? Horns Digest takes a look...

The recruiting momentum for Texas really started with the commitment of 6-foot-6, 207-pound Burton (Texas) athlete Louis Brown, a former Baylor commit who chose the Horns over other offers including Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Oregon.

It continued with an announcement from Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln receiver John Burt, a four-star prospect; the following day, the Longhorns received a verbal from Houston (Texas) Cypress Falls four-star defensive lineman Du'Vonta Lampkin, a former OU commit.

What does this streak mean for the Longhorns? Horns Digest's William Wilkerson discusses, with other thoughts on 2016 offerees, including Galena Park (Texas) North Shore defensive back Eric Monroe, and on Gilmer (Texas) brothers Kris Boyd and Demarco Boyd.
