Breakdown: Lucas burst on to the scene as a sophomore when he ran a blazing 10.41 at the state track meet. That created the hype. Then on a nationally televised game against Bishop Gorman from Nevada, Lucas went off. He rushed for 144 yards and 2 TDs on just 7 carries. He showed the world that he was not just a track kid playing football, he actually had skills on the gridiron. He helped his team win the D1 state title. With his speed, Lucas is a dangerous weapon and is perfect for spread offenses. He can be used on jet sweeps, line up as a slot receiver, just get him the ball in space and make people miss. Offensive coordinators can get creative with him. He may even be an excellent DB. Lucas is certainly not a power, run between the tackles, type of back. He needs to hit the weights. He probably doesn't get much of an off-season because of Spring track and national level track meets that run into the summer. I think once he hits a college strength and conditioning program, he will continue to blossom. Look for him to pick a school that will allow him to participate in both sports.
