Jones Updates Top Five caught up with Richmond Bush offensive tackle Josh Jones, who announced his top five schools back in July. Texas Tech is still very much in the mix, but is battling with some Big 12 rivals for his services.

Texas Tech is still very much in the hunt for Fort Bend Bush offensive tackle Josh Jones.

“Texas Tech. I went up there for a visit and felt they had a really good atmosphere. All the coaches really wanted me there. It felt a little like home.”

Here are some of things Jones mentioned about the other schools in his top five.

Oklahoma State: Jones visited the Cowboys recently.

“The place was amazing. The strength coach, I really feel like he can get my body to the next level.”

Purdue: Is telling Jones he has a chance to play early.

TCU: Currently being recruited by coaches Kenny Perry and Jarrett Anderson.

“Coach Anderson is a really good o-line coach.”

Wake Forest: Recently paid Jones a visit.

The Red Raiders recently received a commitment from four-star Mesquite Horn offensive tackle Conner Dyer. The ripples from Tech’s splash do not seem to affect Jones decision, “Not really. Not as far as from what I’ve been told. They’re still really recruiting me hard,” Jones said.

Texas Tech coaches Mike Jinks and Lee Hays are hot on the heels of Jones. He’s heard from Texas Tech almost daily. One other school that is hot on the trail for the 6-foot-5, 272-pound lineman is TCU. Purdue, however, is falling off on his recruitment.

Jones is currently doing reps of 255 on the squats and maxes out at 265 on the bench press. August practices for Fort Bend Bush start Aug. 11. That date cannot come soon enough for Jones.

“Of course. I can’t wait.”
