Dee Anderson commits to LSU

Four-star wide receiver Dee Anderson became the third Class of 2016 commitment for LSU on Thursday.

2016 four-star receiver Dee Anderson (Mesquite, TX) committed to LSU midday Thursday, TSD has confirmed. He becomes LSU's third commitment in the class and second receiver after Donaldsonville's Stephen Sullivan.

Anderson originally picked up his offer from the Tigers just more than a week ago while at Elite Camp, where he was one of the top wide-outs on campus. It didn't take much longer for him to decide he was ready to commit.

“Everything they have fits the way I play," Anderson said. "I just prayed about it and it's a place I see myself at for four years…It feels good to know that I’m wanted at a school.”

LSU made sure Anderson knew he was very much wanted. Anderson said he's stayed in regular contact with WR coach Adam Henry since he left Baton Rouge last month. He's been taking a hard look at LSU ever since, and he dialed up the coaches Thursday afternoon to inform them of his commitment.

The coaches were in between fall camp practices, which gave him the opportunity to let the whole staff know he was ready.

“They were in a meeting, and he put me on speakerphone so I could tell all the coaches," Anderson said. "Everyone was real happy. They said they want to use me as a big receiver.”

Big is certainly one way of describing Anderson. He measures in at 6-foot-4 with an even longer wing span. His blend of speed and length makes him one of the elite pass catchers in the 2016 class, already rating as a four-star prospect and No. 24 nationally at his position.

Combine him with Sullivan, LSU's other 2016 WR commit, and 6-foot-5 QB commit Feleipe Franks will have some big weapons to target.

“They’re going to isolate me one-on-one with the corners," Anderson said. "I’m very comfortable with that. I’m very confident too.”

Anderson plans to be a familiar face around the LSU facility in these coming months. Hailing from Mesquite, a suburb of Dallas, Anderson said he will definitely be in attendance when LSU faces Alabama on Nov. 8, and he'll try to make it down for some more games and preseason practices.
