Dreyer Staying In Bay

The San Mateo (Calif.) Serra offensive tackle, Jack Dreyer, will be playing close to home...

San Mateo (Calif.) Serra offensive tackle Jack Dreyer (6-8, 280), camped with nearby Stanford during the summer.

But while Dreyer had nearly 15 other offers, he had to be patient and wait for the Cardinal to extend one.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dreyer went to Stanford's practice and got to see the Cardinal up close and personal.

Then came the good news.

"Coach (David) Shaw offered me," said Dreyer.

And Dreyer returned the news, committing to Shaw and the Cardinal quickly.

"The combination of great academics and football are what made them the pick," said Dreyer.

Dreyer soaked in the practice while on The Farm.

"The practice was great and I really got a great idea of why Stanford is so successful," said Dreyer.

He also got to watch offensive line coach Mike Bloomgren at work.

"I just felt myself getting better just watching Coach Bloom and the offensive line," said Dreyer.

Dreyer said he's relieved to be done with the process and his next step is working on the Stanford application.

A three-star by Scout.com, Dreyer chose the Cardinal over offers from schools like Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon State, Utah, Washington State and Wisconsin and Ivy League schools like Brown, Harvard and Yale.
