Midlands: Must See 2016 Guys (Defense)

With the season a few weeks away, the Scout.com Midlands team will be out checking out plenty of games and lots of talent. For this upcoming season in Greater Houston, there are a few 2016 whom we want to be sure and check in on…

Manvel S Deontay Anderson
Anderson is first on the list for a reason. It was an insane off season and summer for him as the doors blew off his recruitment. It started with being named as the MVP at the Houston Nike Football Training Camp. That was followed by offers, which came in bunches by the week. On top of that, Anderson was one of the few invited to The Opening, a training and competition that fields all of the country’s top prep players. Now with double-digit offers heading into his junior season, what does Anderson have for an encore after earning so much early success?

Reagan LB Robert Revels
Watching his sophomore film is like seeing a headhunter on a kickoff team. All Revels does is knock heads, every play. Whether he is rushing the passer or pursuing a back trying to turn the corner, Revels is there. He has something like a throwback quality to him. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of him this upcoming season.

North Shore DB Eric Monroe
Saw him a few times last season, but Monroe has been impressive and tearing it up at all of the college stops he’s made. He’s a high-priority player for a number of programs and this junior season should be a good one for him.

Manvel LB Jordan Carmouche
It was at a February combine when first seeing Carmouche and he was quite impressive then. Since that time, he has obviously gotten better and tons of coaches have flocked out to Manvel (and for good reason, check the roster full of talent) to offer him since that first Scout.com interview. Now it’s time to get another look.

Katy S Collin WilderTexas Tech commit
For years, I’ve loved the role of safeties in the Katy defense. It usually is one of the team’s better athletes, one who is called on to make plays all over the field. Dating back to Trent Hunter and next to Sam Holl, Wilder in the next in line and he’s a good one.

Others to Watch: Westfield DT Ed Oliver, MacArthur DE Isaiah Chambers, Tompkins ATH Christian Wallace, Elsik LB Dontavious Jackson
