Williams Ready For the Season

Ft. Worth (TX) All Saints defensive tackle Mike Williams is one of the most coveted prospects in the nation.

With the official start of football season around the corner, college programs have put recruiting somewhat on the backburner as they prepare for the season.

That hasn’t stopped programs from slowing down the pursuit of Ft. Worth (TX) All Saints defensive tackle Mike Williams however. The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder is regarded as the No. 8 defensive tackle prospect in the nation and No. 84 overall player in the 2016 class.

Williams already held offers from TCU, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UCLA among others. His latest offer came from Ohio State, where his good friend and ex-All Saints teammate Demetrius Knox now plays.

“Things have been real good I got offered by Ohio State on Thursday,” he said.

Receiving the offer from the national power came as a surprise to Williams.

“It was big time for me I didn't even know how to react,” Williams said of receiving the Buckeye offer.

As for his communication with TCU, Williams says he stays in contact with his recruiter, Sonny Cumbie, on a weekly basis. Williams plans on attending a Frogs’ game this fall.

“I talk to coach Cumbie weekly,” he said. “He just wants me to get up there for a game. I'm almost positive I will I just don't know which one (game).”

All Saints is aiming for their third consecutive SPC title this season and will open the season on August 30th against Houston St. Pius X.

“We scrimmaged a team from Mexico on Friday and we scrimmage Argyle Liberty Christian this Thursday,” he said. “I feel good about the season.”
