Bellamy in no rush
In Friday night's first game of the Horseshoe Classic, an annual double-header held at Lucas Oil Stadium featuring teams in the Indianapolis, Indiana area, 2013 3-A state runner-up Brebeuf Jesuit led rival Bishop Chatard 14-3 at the half. From there, momentum shifted in favor of the Braves and Chatard came from behind to hand Jesuit a loss in its 2014 opener. "We were ready to play in the first half," Jesuit three-star running back LeVante' Bellamy said. "In the second half, we let things slip away from us and gave the ball away too much. You can work as hard as you want, but you still have to be smart and sometimes things don't go your way." Bellamy finished the game with 15 rushes for 132 yards. The 2015 5-foot-9 1/2, 178-pound athlete was featured in a variety of roles on the field last night. "I think because of my size I can line up well there (slot)," Bellamy said. "I can create mis-matches down the field too as a receiver, and that's something I can potentially bring to college with me." Bellamy has an offer from Cincinnati and a handful of MAC schools, including Ball State, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo. No standouts for him right now, however. "I will about (recruiting) after the season," Bellamy said. "I don't plan on taking any visits until it's over. I just want to wait and see what happens." Bellamy visited Louisville and Notre Dame over the summer. He says he's also generating interest from the likes of Kentucky, Michigan State, and Missouri. "I'm a shifty back that can do a little bit of everything on the field," Bellamy said. "I want to play early in college, so we'll see where that leads me. It all depends." Bellamy is a three-star running back and is ranked as the No. 109 running back in the class of 2015.
