Sindelar has impressive size for a high school senior, 6-foot-4, 195-pounds. That’s the first thing that stands out when you see him. He’s going to have to continue to get stronger, but he seems to be right on track to be a 220-ish quarterback by the time he sees the field at Purdue.
Physically, Sindelar has a very strong arm. He can get the ball down field in a hurry. He does so with accuracy and nice touch. He made several throws last night over the top of a pretty athletic Christian County defense.
He never really had to fit the ball into tight spaces, so it’s hard to determine how his arm strength meshes with his touch in traffic. He did throw two interceptions, but only one of them was his fault. He let one sail a little too much and the Christian County safety was able to make a play on the ball.
On the rare occasion that his opponent was able to get pressure on him, he didn’t panic. He did a good job eluding the pressure and often completing a pass or getting rid of the ball before he lost yardage. He was sacked only one time and threw nearly 40 passes.
The Caldwell County star was also able to spread the ball around to several different receivers. Seven different receivers divided his 28 completions, 429 yards, and five touchdowns among them last night.
In the end, as long as he maintains his work ethic, Elijah Sindelar looks to be a future star at Purdue.
