Peters gives the latest
Three-star class of 2016 quarterback Brandon Peters had an impressive start to his season. The Avon (Ind.) product rallied his team to a huge win against Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central, and showed why he already has two BCS level offers. Trailing 23-7 at halftime things did not look good for Avon, but things turned around in a big way in the second half, and Peters was a huge part of it, as Avon came home with a 38-31 win. “We just stuck together and stayed composed,” said Peters. “I made some plays for the team and that is all I can ask for. My linemen and my receivers made plays for me, and that is all I can ask of them, and I tried to make plays for them as well.” He continued about the win, “This is just the starting point. I am just trying to get a feel for it and get the jitters out. I expect big things for this team. We just need to continue to improve and getting over the hump in the first quarter and working the jitters out early on.” On the recruiting trail the 6-foot-4 Peters already has offers from Virginia Tech and Iowa. About the Hokies, Peters said, “I have talked to Coach (Scott) Loeffler a lot and he really likes me. I am just working on building a bigger relationship with him because it is one of the places I could really see myself at.” When it comes to the Hawkeyes, Peters said, “I hadn’t really talked to Iowa that much until I got down there. The first time I talked to Greg Davis is when I went down there. I need to build a great relationship with him just to see how that goes.” Those two are his early offers, but Peters says a few other schools are beginning to turn up the attention. “I have talked with Indiana a lot,” explained Peters. “Me and Coach (Kevin) Wilson had a good talk last Sunday when I went down there, and then I have also talked to Kentucky some and Purdue.” For his part Peters says that Virginia Tech has set the bar high early on in his recruitment, and so far he likes what they have done the most. “They have pretty good recruits already and I feel like I could step in and be good for them,” said Peters about why the Hokies have set the bar high. Still Peters says that he remains open in the process and he is planning a few unofficial visits for this fall. “I will be visiting Iowa for their game against Iowa State, and then also I will see Iowa against Purdue when they are in West Lafayette,” said Peters. “Also I am probably going to get to a Virginia Tech game.”
