Taylor II down to four, deciding Thursday

Darvin Taylor II will make his decision on Thursday. The 2015 four-star Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale defensive tackle, who is down to four schools, gave Scout.com the latest.

Darvin Taylor II narrowed his list to eight schools in June.

Now that he is 48 hours away from making his college decision, the 6-foot-4, 295-pound Taylor is down to four.

”I have cut my list to Florida State, Maryland, NC State and Virginia Tech,” he said. “I had 26 offers and just want to thank all the schools who recruited me.

He gave a quick thought on each school.

Florida State: “I like the coaches and I like the players, and I could receive a great education there,” Taylor II said.

Maryland: “I like the coaches and what they bring to the table. I like (defensive line) coach (Chad) Wilt and what he’s doing. I also like Under Armour – it’s amazing. And they have great communication program.”

NC State: “I really like coach (Ryan) Nielsen and the fact that’s he’s put some premier guys in the NFL. It’s also close to home – two hours away – and it’s a great school."

Virginia Tech: “It’s an in-state school and close to home. I also have four or five high school teammates up there and I’ve been getting good feedback from them. It’s a great school, too.”

While Taylor is just days away from making his choice, he’s not ready to tip hand.

”All the schools are even right now,” he said. “I’m going to make my decision at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at my school. After I commit, the only school I’ll take an official visit to will be that one.”
