T.J. King committed in July to Louisiana Tech, but the Irving MacArthur 2015 defensive end said following his team's 24-22 season-opening loss at Garland on Thursday that his pledge to the Bulldogs is a "soft verbal" at this point.
So who else has the 6-foot-3 1/2, 225-pound heard from lately?
King plays even-front defensive end for MacArthur, but has the type of frame that could make him position-versatile in the eyes of recruiters.
He said college programs have looked at him as an even-front end and an odd-front outside linebacker because, as he put it, his best attribute is his pass-rushing ability.
"As a defensive end, I keep that outside arm free and rush the passer as well," King said. "I've been working on rushing the passer and trying to bulk up and get it right."
King said there are a few schools that he'd like to visit.
"I honestly wanna take a visit to New Mexico and K-State, and hopefully Utah," he said.
King and MacArthur try for their first victory of the 2014 season Friday when they visit Plano High.
