Scouting George Campbell

Here are some highlights and analysis from George Campbell in action this past Friday. Campbell did everything but catch the football against Palm Harbor University.

George Campbell is one of the most coveted recruits from the Sunshine State that still has not made his decision. Well, that’s not entirely true, as Campbell was committed to Michigan before backing off that pledge. This Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake four-star wide receiver recruit is down to three schools – Florida State, Florida and LSU. He told me after the game that he could make his decision at any time.

This was a weird game for Campbell, who finished with no receptions. In fact, they only threw him the ball one time and he caught the pass out of bounds. Campbell did his damage running the football, blocking on the perimeter and rushing the passer on defense.

Last season East Lake was home to Artavis Scott (Clemson signee). Scott lined up everywhere – as an outside receiver, in the slot and at running back. That’s exactly what Campbell did on Friday. He had several big carries from the running back position as well as two or three jet sweeps from the slot. Campbell showcased his outstanding speed. He didn’t break a long one but was getting 10 plus yards on every touch.

Defensively, Campbell was pesky from his defensive end position. He finished with a sack and a few quarterback pressures. He just knows how to use his speed off the edge.

Take a look at some of his Friday highlights below.
