'17's Shelley Off to a Fast Start

2017 Scout four-star prospect Jason Shelley was super impressive in game one, and it is no wonder he has early attention and offers...

Jason Shelley, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound quarterback got his sophomore season off to a quick start, racking up 202 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a 63-0 win.

This sophomore season is building off a freshman season where he put up huge numbers in 2013.

"My footwork has gotten better, so that helps with my accuracy," Shelley said of his feel after game one. "Honestly my arm has gotten better form last year and the ball is coming out harder."

Shelley is one of 16 player to earn a four-star status by Scout in the 2017 class, the earliest stars have ever been handed out. He is taking it all in stride.

"I just play," Shelley answered when asked how he handles that type of early attention. "I play the game as hard as I can, do whatever the coaches say and work hard every day in school and out of school on the field."

With offers already in from major programs like Clemson and Nebraska, colleges have also started to pay him attention.

He has three other schools at the top of his mind he would like to hear more from as his recruitment plays itself out.

Oklahoma - "I am kind of interested in Oklahoma. I have already gone to a couple of visits there and I like it a lot."

Ohio State - "I would hope for them to hit me up. I like Braxton Miller. I feel like my game is after him and I like the offense that they run because it is kind of like what we run."

Texas A&M - "I like A&M. I like to throw the ball a lot and they have an offense that does that."
