Ole Miss Commitment Stats
**Ole Miss stinger LB commit, Fred Walls, helped Olive Branch to a 37-6 win over Raleigh-Egypt to even their record to 1-1. The 6' 1", 225-pound linebacker had 10 tackles with 2 for a loss in the contest. Through two games he now has 18 tackles, 2 for a loss, 1/2 sacks, and one batted down ball.
Last season he finished the year with 122 tackles, 6 loss, 3 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and one interception. He was named 2nd Team All-State by the MAC and 1st Team All-Region 1(6A).
Olive Branch faces Charleston Friday.
**Running back Eric Swinney helped Sandy Creek to a 2-0 start with a 35-6 win over Jonesboro last Friday. He started the season in style with over 220 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Sandy Creek's upset over the #3 ranked team in Class 6A, Archer. This past week against Jonesboro he netted 121 rushing yards and a touchdown. This gives him 343 rushing yards and three touchdowns through two games.
As a junior, Swinney rushed for 1,149 yards and 22 touchdowns on 137 carries. As a sophomore, he had 1,420 yards and 21 touchdowns on 151 carries.
Sandy Creek (GA) is at Hampton (GA) this Friday.
**Willie Hibbler missed his second game this season with a
separated shoulder. He is expected to return to the field either Friday or next
Friday. The 6' 5", 220-pounder is rated the #9 tight end prospect in the
country. He finished last season with 108 rushing yards, 31
catches for 746 yards/14 touchdowns, 77 tackles and four forced fumbles on defense.
He was named the 1st Team Region 2 (3A) squad and was named North Panola's Team
North Panola is 2-0 on the season and face Hernando Friday.
**The nation's #65 rated corner, Ugo Amadi, opened his season with a 28-21 loss to Centennial last Friday. The 5' 9", 180-pound two-way player had over 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the contest. He also batted down a ball and had six solo tackles.
Last season Ugo had 43 tackles with 11 pass deflections and four interceptions last fall for Overton.
Overton plays at Cane Ridge Friday.
**3-Star athlete Jay Johnson helped Bruce to a 41-7 win over Potts Camp to even their record to 1-1. The 6' 3", 210-pound two-way player has 17 rushes for 144 yards and two touchdowns through two games. He has also caught 2 passes for 57 yards. On defense where he is playing end sparingly, he has 3 tackles with one for a loss. As a junior the 6' 3", 210-pound two-way player had 594 rushing yards (4 touchdowns), 23 catches for 388 yards (3 touchdowns), 1,363 all-purpose yards, 42 tackles, 9 for a loss, and 4 batted down passes.
Bruce is at Coffeeville Friday.
**3-Star S Armani Linton and Walnut defeated Faulkner 28-21 this past Friday. The nation's #52 rated safety had over 200 yards of offense and three touchdowns in the contest. Through two games he has rushed for over 300 yards. As a junior the 6' 2", 200-pounder had 71 rushes for 716 yards (13 touchdowns), 8 receptions for 198 yards (1 touchdown), 1004 all-purpose yards, 26 tackles, two interceptions, and caused a fumble.
Walnut is at home against Alcorn Central this Friday.
**Ole Miss quarterback commit Jason Pellerin out of Catholic (LA) high school had 3 touchdowns in their final jamboree game Friday. The 6' 4", 215-pound signal caller opens their season against St. Michael Friday.
As a junior "Red", as he is called by family and friends, earned
his stripes by throwing for 1917 yards and 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions
and by rushing for 786 yards and 21 TDs.
**3-Star safety Zedrick Woods helped Columbia to a 44-33 win over Gainesville to run their record to 2-0. The #78 rated outside linebacker had double digit tackles (13) for the second week in a row. The 6' 0", 190-pound safety has 23 tackles through two games and has also caused two fumbles and a sack. Last season the nation's #78 rated safety was a terror on the field with over a 100 tackles and 21.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage including 7.5 sacks.
Columbia is at home against Lincoln Friday.
**3-Star safety Jordus Smith and Gulfport lost a heartbreaker to Madison Central 25-2 this past Friday. The 6' 1", 190-pound two-way player has 4 rushes for 63 yards (1 TD), 3 catches for 26 yards (1 TD), 132 return yards in punts, and six tackles on defense through two games.
Gulfport is at home against Prattville (Ala) this Friday.
**Ole Miss junior commit Justin Conner helped North Panola to a 40-0 win over Byhalia to run their record to 2-0 on the season. The 5' 10", 190-pound tailback rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries for the night. This brings his season totals to 23 rushes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. The nation's #19 rated tailback and #227 overall prospect rushed for 824 yards as a junior despite missing the last four games of the season with a hamstring issue. Justin was named to the 1st Team Region 2 (3A) squad.
North Panola plays Hernando Friday.
** 4-Star WR commit '16 DeKaylin Metcalf had five catches for 70 yards in Oxford's 59-21 loss to Starkville this past Friday. Through two games the nation's #37 ranked junior in the country has 8 catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. On defense the 6' 2", 195-pounder has four tackles and an interception while playing cornerback.
D.K. finished his sophomore season with 52 catches for 618 yards and 8 touchdowns despite missing five games of action.
Oxford is at East Side Friday.
** 3-Star OL Eli Johnson and Lafayette are off to a 0-2 record after Friday's 17-14 loss to Corinth. The 6' 3", 285-pound lineman returned to the field to play in Lafayette's season opener against Tupelo after tearing his ACL in the state championship game in December. Eli was named as a 4A All-State selection as a junior.
Lafayette is at home against DeSoto Central Friday.
**Ole Miss' most recent commit, 4-Star DT Benito Jones, was defeated by Oak Grove by a score of 17-7 last Friday. The 6' 3", 280-pound defensive tackle had 6 tackles and a sack in the contest. He is rated as the #12 defensive tackle in the class of 2016 and the #108 overall prospect. Last season as a sophomore he collected 58 tackles, 25 quarterback hurries, 5 sacks, and caused 4 fumbles. He was name the District Defensive MVP and All-State for his on the field accomplishments.

**Meridian junior receiver, Daniel Crowell, busted out with
8 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown in Meridian's 24-8 win over N' West
Rankin. Last Friday in Meridian's 41-0 win over Quitman the junior receiver
had six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. Through two games the 6' 3"
receiver had 14 catches for 244 yards and three touchdowns. As a sophomore in
2013, Crowell, who camped at Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia this summer, caught
41 passes for 812 yards and nine touchdowns.
