Jacob Jefferson, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound wide receiver from Houston (Texas) St. Pius X is putting up huge numbers in 2016, helping him lock down his first two scholarship offers from Rice and Northwestern.
So far as a junior, Jefferson has collected 52 receptions for 927 yards and 12 touchdowns and the SPX Panthers are 9-0.
"My strengths as a player are that I am very quick, I get out of my routes really well," Jefferson said. "I am a smart player and I understand how to get in the open field, open space. That’s mostly what I do, help my teammates get open, and go hard every play."
He feels very honored to already have the opportunity to play on the next level.
"It is a blessing first and foremost," Jefferson reported. "For me I just try to get better everyday. Try to get to the number one spot, no matter what it takes."
"The first offer (Rice) is the most special offer, most definitely. They have shown me love throughout my freshman, sophomore, and my junior year. And it is close to home, really close to home, so I know the atmosphere."
Rice and Northwester are not the only two programs to take note of Jefferson. He will be a highly recruited and offered prospect by the time he signs with a college on National Signing Day in February, 2018.
"I like that they actually notice me and notice my strengths. I am not the 6’5 player that everybody just looks at. I like that they look throughout the player and not just at the player."
He recently attended Notre Dame on an unofficial visit when it played Stanford.
Jefferson -- as his first two offers indicate -- is a tremendous student-athlete. He boasts a current 4.4 GPA.null
