Tampa-Based Defensive End, Sandro Maxwell, Has His Eye on the Service Academies

One school has locked in an official visit date with Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep defensive end, Sandro Maxwell.

Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep defensive end, Sandro Maxwell, came up short in regards to his ultimate goal of capturing a coveted class 3A state championship, but 2016 was certainly not a total disappointment with the Buccaneers capping off the year with a 9-3 record.

Maxwell, who's also dealing with the demands of the recruiting process, is a wanted young man with scholarship offers on the table from Bowling Green, BuffaloConnecticut and Air Force among others.

"I have a visit to Air Force set up for Jan. 19-22," Maxwell said. "I'm also in the middle of getting one set up with Army West Point for the second weekend in January."

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Maxwell continues to weigh out his options with National Signing Day right around the corner, but dishes out two schools that could be positioned best leading up to Feb. 1.

"I don't have a top (school) right now, but I'm really interested in the military academies," Maxwell said referring to Army and Air Force. "I'm just excited to go up and see everything."

Maxwell has to continue to dive into the weight room to strengthen up his frame, but certainly plays his role with undeniable passion and effort from start to finish. He's also tenacious and relentless when disengaging off blockers.

Whether it's navigating through clutter or setting the edge and playing with discipline, Maxwell is an instinctive kid that has a knack for always being around the football. He also possesses a nice frame that should have no problem expanding in the coming years.

"I would say just my motor," Maxwell said when asked about his strengths between the white lines. "The only thing I can control is my effort, so I just go hard every play."

As always, stay tuned to Scout.
