Biggest National Signing Day Announcements
No. 10 DT Marvin Wilson - Bellaire (Texas) Episcopal
Prediction: LSU Tigers
Wilson announced he would make his commitment on NSD way back in the spring and it has been a roller-coaster recruiting ride. Favorites have ebbed and flowed and come and gone much like some of the coaching staffs on the teams he's been considering, but at the end it is between the four schools that he has officially visited: Florida State, LSU, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Most feel like it is a battle between Seminoles and Tigers in the South, but the Sooners and Buckeyes are not giving up and have been pushing hard late in the game for the No. 1 rated defensive tackle and five-star prospect.
No. 11 DT Aubrey Solomon - Leesburg (Ga.) Lee's County
Prediction: Michigan Wolverines
Solomon will have Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and USC hats on the table Wednesday morning. He is a one-time Michigan commit and he has been trending back towards the Wolverines the last few weeks. Alabama looks to be their biggest competition, but can you really rule anyone out here?
No. 24 WR Joseph Lewis - Los Angeles (Calif) Augustus Hawkins
Prediction: USC Trojans
USC continues to make a move for Lewis and had him on campus this weekend for a visit. Oregon is trying to get back in this and new coach Willie Taggart did a home visit with Lewis earlier this month. Nebraska had been our choice for the last few months and we still feel the Huskers are on the short list, but we’ve changed it of late to USC and the Trojans have a lot of momentum and the local flavor. He visited with teammate Greg Johnson, who’s also leaning towards USC, and Johnson’s younger brother, Marcus, has already committed to the Trojans. We’ll still lean this one towards the Trojans.
No. 26 WR Devonta Smith - Amte (La.)
Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide
Smith was scheduled to visit Miami this past weekend, but he didn't make the trip. Alabama and LSU have been his top two for some time and it is clear that he will end up in the SEC West. Scout's pick has been Alabama for over six months and there is no reason to change it now.
No. 30 OT Austin Jackson - Phoenix (Ariz.) North Canyon
Prediction: USC Trojans
The five-star offensive tackle was going to announce not long after returning from the U.S. Army All-American Bowl because he didn’t want to wait until national signing day. But he ended up pushing that decision to signing day and he’ll announce on Wednesday. It has been a three-horse race for Jackson, with Arizona State, USC and Washington but we think its between the Sun Devils, the local school, and the Trojans, the prohibitive favorite and we’ll still trend this one towards USC.
