Elk Grove (Calif.) receiver/tight end Gavin Reinwald couldn't pass on the opportunity to play in the Pac-12.
"Coach (Beau) Baldwin came by on Wednesday for a home visit and told me that I had an offer and had me come up this weekend for an official," said Reinwald.
That offer proved to be pivotal and Reinwald flipped his commitment to the Bears.
"What made Cal the pick for me was how close it was and the combination of academics and Pac-12 football. It's something you can't get anywhere else," said Reinwald. "And I truly believe in what the coaching staff is going to do by turning this program around."
The official visit was a big one for Reinwald.
"The trip was unbelievable overall," said Reinwald. "I really connected with the other players visiting. My host was Kyle Wells who played at Del Oro and he was an amazing host."
Reinwald also got to spend more time with Baldwin on the official.
"I spent most of my time talking with Coach Baldwin as he's going to most likely be the new tight ends coach too," said Reinwald.
The coaching staff as a whole impressed him.
"What stood out for me most was how much the players believe in the coaches and also how these coaches want to set up each player for their future," said Reinwald.
Plus Reinwald like the campus and facilities.
"The campus was phenomenal and one of kind with a lot of character to it," said Reinwald. "The facilities were like no other and I was very impressed, especially with the weight room."
