Colorado State and Indiana had their moments with Donelle Thomas, but the standout safety out of Miami (Fla.) Carol City has found no reason to travel too far from home and is now officially teamed up with Charlie Strong's South Florida Bulls.
Thomas, who announced his decision just moments ago, is a 2016 state champion that's been rewarded with additional scholarship offers from South Carolina, Syracuse, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina and Toledo among others.
"It was a great environment," Thomas told Scout when asked about his commitment. "I loved the coaches' energy, and also the players. They have something good going on and the coaches want me to be a part of it.
"Charlie Strong is a great coach. He has a vision to win the national championship, and I would love to play for a coach who always wants more."
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Thomas officially visited the Bulls on Jan. 20, while Colorado State played host on the weekend of the 13th.
"The team wants to win; everybody is locked in on the same page," Thomas told Scout following his recent official visit to USF. "Coach Strong is a great coach and USF has a great future.
"We visited all around the campus. I liked the area a lot and I loved the campus. It's not too much, but at the same time it's not too small."
