As the 2018 cycle begins, Scout continues its state-by-state breakdown of the "Must Know" players in the East. This segment is Massachusetts.

Ok, the 2017 class is in the books, so let's get ready for 2018. Who are the kids to know in Massachusetts?

Scout takes a look at the "Must Know" prospects in Massachusetts' 2018 class, and the latest happenings in their recruitment.

1. Patrick Freiermuth, the No. 8 tight end in the 2018 class, committed to Penn State in August. The North Andover (Mass.) Brooks prospect gets off the line of scrimmage quickly and he gets down the field well. He tracks the ball well and catches the pass away from the body. He is a red-zone threat because of his size and athleticism. He stays low as a blocker, engages and drives his legs to control the play.

2. Finn Dirstine, an offensive guard from Groton (Mass.) Lawrence, holds a handful of offers, including one from Boston College. Beating the in-state Eagles is always tough for schools, but IllinoisMiami, SyracuseMassachusetts and Yale each offered. Dirstine plays with power and a low pad level.

3. The big-framed Jake Bobo, who is 6-foot-4, has a high ceiling. DukeWake Forest and Boston College already extended offers, as did Massachusetts and Army, who speaks to his high character. He visited North Carolina, Wake Forest and Duke in the fall, he made a visit to Boston College in late January, and he told Scout he will be at Duke and Wake Forest the weekend of Feb. 18.

4. Running back Daniel Abraham plays at Boston College High and his first FBS offer was from Boston College. So, the Eagles should be in good position? Yes. However, other schools are tracking him. Stanford, Virginia, Duke and Syracuse are showing Abraham interest. He is also being looked at by Harvard and Yale.

5. Brian Abraham is a long, intriguing safety prospect from Westwood (Mass.) Xaverian Brothers, which produces a good number of FBS players. Abraham was recently at Syracuse, and he is also being recruited by Boston College. At 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, he has the frame to grow into an outside linebacker.

6. Kevin Deree may be a bit undersized at 6-foot, 205 pounds, but the Braintree (Mass.) Thayer standout plays downhill and moves very well inside. He is a good tackler and has closing speed. Boston college, UConn, Temple, Duke, Buffalo, UMass and a numuber of Ivy League schools are showing interest in him.

7. Jay Symonds, who plays at Cambridge (Mass.) Buckingham Browne, has good size (6-4, 251) and can block and be successful in tight spaces. He already visited Rutgers, Boston College, UConn and Harvard, and is trying to schedule a trip to Pittsburgh as well as Princeton and Harvard.

8. Groton (Mass.) Lawrence Academy's Ryan Betro already has holds offers from Syracuse and Sacred Heart, and he is getting interest from Boston College and Connecticut. He made recent unofficial visits to Syracuse and Boston College.

http://www.scout.com/player/214840-chris-chaisson?s=73

9. Duxbury (Mass.) High's Chris Chaisson holds an offer from FCS Stetson, and he is also getting interest from Boston College. It will be a big spring for Chaisson as schools head to Massachusetts to see prospects, and Duxbury should have Duxbury as a stop.

10. Isaiah Likely best fits as an outside linebacker in college. He was one of a big group of players from Massachusetts to make a junior day visit to Boston College in late January.
