Syracuse Takes the Next Step With 2018 Defensive Back, Kendrick Torain, Jr.

Junior defensive back Kendrick Torain, Jr. now holds five offers after receiving word from the Syracuse Orange on Monday evening.

Prospects representing the class of 2018 are now the primary focus with colleges all across the map turning their full focus from an eventful National Signing Day 2017.

Kendrick Torain Jr., a 6-foot-2, 195-pound defensive back out of Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit, is one of those up-and-coming kids that's expected to manufacture an impressive offseason, and certainly took a step in the right direction on Monday evening when Syracuse stepped up to the plate with an offer of their own.

"I really like them because it's one of my bigger offers, coming from the ACC," Torain said. "I like what the coaches are telling me about how I could change their program.

"I also like the conference they're in; a lot of defensive backs come from the ACC."

Syracuse offensive quality control coach, Vincent Marshall, is the staff member that delivered the pleasant news to the Sunshine State native.

"I talked with coach Marshall, and the overall message was that they feel that I'm a big prospect that can come and do big things for the program," Torain said.

Torain has yet to finalize a date, but says he plans to visit Iowa State, another school that's dished out an offer, at some point during the spring.

"They're a great school also," Torain said. "Their coaches are telling me good things, and also telling me I could come in and make a big impact in their program."

Torain, who claims no leaders, has earned additional offers from Middle Tennessee StateBowling Green and Toledo.

As always, stay tuned to Scout.
