Football recruiting is on hold for Ryan Hayes at the moment.
A 6-foot-7 tight end from Traverse City West, Hayes' potential to grow into an offensive tackle has schools recruiting him hard and has him as an early candidate to be one of the state and region's best. At the moment, however, his school's basketball season, where he is a key post player, is his main focus.
"I am going to take some visits in the spring," he said. "Right now, I just don't have the time."
"I was really excited [about the Notre Dame offer]," he said. "It's a great program. I really like Coach Hiestand. He knows a lot, he really likes me and would be a really great coach."
The three other schools who offered will be the three other schools Hayes visits in the spring right now. He is looking for separation between them as he holds all four programs who have offered him in high regard.
"Definitely MSU, Northwestern and CMU, I like them all."
There may be more schools to come in and offer soon, including another Big Ten school who just reached out.
"Ohio State just contacted me this morning and said they're interested."
