Kentucky had been the steady leader for a number of months, but Jordan Redmond, a junior defensive tackle out of powerhouse Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola, says he recently took a step back and is now heavily considering a flurry of others after expanding his offer sheet over the past few months.
It was just over two weeks ago when the Scarlet Knights came calling with an offer of their own, but the coaching staff is certainly leaving their mark and pushing all the right buttons early on.
Redmond, a three-star prospect, says Chris Ash's staff is recruiting him to play nose guard.
"(The offer) gives me a chance to showcase my explosiveness one-on-one with the center," Redmond said. "It also allows me to work on my quickness, as well with getting off the line of scrimmage.
"(Defensive line) coach (Shane) Burnham is really interested in me as a person and an athlete. They're also recruiting me very hard."
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Redmond views Syracuse as the total package in terms of what he's looking for in a school on the collegiate level.
"I like coach," Redmond said of the Orange. "He really cares about the players at his school and who he recruits. It would also be cool to play with a former player, Devon Clarke.
"Syracuse is a good school academically, and also offers my major."
As always, stay tuned to Scout.
