As the 2018 cycle begins, Scout continues its state-by-state breakdown of the "Must Know" players in the East. This segment is Washington, D.C.

Ok, the 2017 class is in the books, so let's get ready for 2018. Who are the kids to know in Washington, D.C.?

Scout takes a look at the "Must Know" prospects in the District of Columbia's 2018 class, and the latest happenings in their recruitment.

1. Hidden at the Maret School is a gem in the 2018 class very few schools know about in Devonte Gordon. His only offer is from Virginia, but expect that to change quickly as his name gets out. He is athletic, powerful, bends well and he has quick feet. He is a tremendous talent who could see a bunch of offers come his way. Penn StateVirginia TechMarylandPittsburgh and Rutgers all know about him.

2. Edward Hendrix is a receiver with a big frame and an impressive early offer list, and one of a group of very talented players in Woodson's 2018 class. Hendrix already holds offers from Maryland, Michigan StateNorth CarolinaPittsburghSyracuse and Virginia Tech. He recently made a visit to Maryland, and he told Scout he does not have any other visits set yet, but expect him to make a few in the spring.

3. Another of the talented prospects at Woodson, Vincent Flythe is a cornerback who can also play safety. The talented Flythe has good length and he is fluid. His offer list includes Iowa State, Boston College, Maryland, NC State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. He made a recent trip to Maryland, he told Scout he would be at Virginia next weekend, and a trip to Virginia Tech is also in the works.

4. The Woodson run continues with cornerback Noah Boykin, who also can play cornerback or safety. His offer list includes Boston College, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech. He told Scout he does not have any visits set up yet, but Maryland is making a strong push and he is planning trips to Penn State, NC State and Virginia.

5. Mychale Salahuddin is a powerfully-built running back who added a few inches in the last year and saw his offer list quickly expand. Salahuddin, who also plays at Woodson, has an offer list that includes Arkansas, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, NC State and Syracuse. He said he is visiting Virginia (Feb. 15), Virginia Tech (Feb. 18) and Penn State (Feb. 25) this month, and he also plans on visiting Oklahoma.

6. Cam Goode, the top defensive tackle in the District of Columbia, made a recent visit to Rutgers, and he said he plans on making a return trip. The St. John's standout added he will be at Duke and Wake Forest this coming weekend and he is also planning a trip to Michigan State. Goode's offer list includes Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Wake Forest and Michigan State.

7. Kevin Doyle shifted from Malvern (Pa.) Prep and is now at St. John's, where he is slated to replace Maryland signee Kasim Hill. Doyle has a nice offer list, which includes Boston College, Pittsburgh, Iowa, Kentucky, Syracuse, Michigan State, Nebraska, West Virginia and Purdue. He said he will visit Pittsburgh and Purdue the weekend of Feb. 18.

8. Back to Woodson for the next on the list in outside linebacker Juan Wallace, who has a nice frame and a lot of room for growth. He holds offers from Wisconsin, Duke, Syracuse, Iowa State and Army. He was at Duke last weekend, and he told Scout he will be at Maryland one day next week. He added trips to Iowa State, Syracuse and Pittsburgh were all in the works.

9. Gonzaga is home to an up-and-coming offensive lineman in Aidan Rafferty, who holds offers from Syracuse and Maryland. He was at Maryland last weekend and it ended with an offer. He is in the process of setting up a visit to Syracuse, will visit Virginia next week and is looking at junior day trip to Virginia Tech later this month.

10. Friendship Collegiate receiver Dontay Demus has big frame and a hometown offer. The Terps offered the 6-foot-4 wideout, and it could be a shut case if Maryland pushes. His recruiter, assistant coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, is the former head coach at Friendship Collegiate, although the two are just starting to build a relationship. Virginia Tech, Temple and Pittsburgh are also recruiting Demus.
