The Opening Houston Interview with Four-Star CB Jalen Green

Scout caught up with elite Scout Top 300 cornerback Jalen Green at The Opening Houston.

Jalen Green, a 6-foot-2, 173-pound cornerback from Houston (Texas) Reagan has been piling up the national offers.

"Penn State, I was very shocked (when they offered)," Green said when recapping the major offers on his list. "Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU, Florida. Those are the main ones so far."

With over 20 offers in the bag, Green will be thinking about a cut-down list, but not anytime in the immediate future.

"I am just waiting it out now and see what I want to do," Green informed. "Sometime in the summer."

Green lines up all over the field for his high school team and even spends some time under center as the quarterback, so while he is a highly rated cornerback prospect he is also an athlete.

"I played everywhere," Green confirmed. "If a coach tells me to do something I can do it no problem. Anything to help the team out."

"My strengths (as a corner) are being physical in press and my weakness is playing off because I rarely do it and I am not as used to it."

Green has a couple of major junior day visits lined up and broke down what he likes about those schools.

"Oklahoma (on) February 19th and LSU in March -- I think March 19th," Green said. "They have a very good coaching staffs that I like."

"LSU they kept focused and maintained and they got hungrier (under the direction of head coach Ed Orgeron). Coach (Bob) Stoops came to visit and coach Kerry Cooks (OU defensive backs coach) is a very good coach who knows what he is doing."

The Opening Houston Evaluation: This was our first chance to see Green in person and we walked away very impressed. He is long and athletic. He can track the balls nicely and has great leaping ability and body control. This is going to be a great class of defensive backs and Green's name deserves to be at the top of the list. We love that he is also a very versatile athlete playing all over the field for his team. He even spends a lot of time under center at quarterback. For his length he was very quick in and out of his breaks and consistent in coverage. He was also not afraid to be physical with receivers. Finished No. 16 overall with a 97.98 Nike+ Rating.
