First SEC offer for 2019 LB

St. Louis (Mo.) Trinity Catholic 2019 LB Shammond Cooper now has seven offers as his first from the SEC came on Wednesday.

Mississippi offered three sophomores at St. Louis Trinity Catholic on Wednesday, quarterback/athlete Isaiah Williams, wide receiver Marcus Washington, and linebacker Shammond Cooper.

For Cooper, it was offer number seven and first from the SEC.

"It's just a crazy thing to think about," he said, "for me to be this young and to bring in attention from colleges, but it shows me the hard work is paying off so I have to keep working on and off the field."

Cooper had 140 tackles as a sophomore. He also chipped in four sacks and an interception good enough to make him an All-State selection despite only being a sophomore.

The offers have come in steadily. Iowa StateIllinoisSyracuse and Memphis are among the others. He hopes to visit some of these schools over the next several months.

"I know coach said he is going to take a lot of the guys to Iowa State soon. I'd like to visit Ole Miss and Memphis during the summer."

That is when he will start looking closely at his choices. Even though he still has a lot of time to make a decision, Cooper already knows what he hopes to find in a program.

"I want to go to a school and win. I want to be known as a winner, I also want to go somewhere that will give me a quality education."

There is still a school out there who has not offered who he hopes to hear more from too, his home-state Missouri Tigers.

"As a kid, I grew up loving Mizzou, it's my home state team and that has meant something to me."
