Momentum is picking up for Joey Ramos as the ever-important spring evaluation period approaches.
The three-star offensive tackle from Glendale (Ariz.) Deer Valley most recently landed scholarship offers from UCLA and Washington State to add to an impressive list that already included the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, California, Nebraska and Utah.
Ramos will be in Los Angeles this coming weekend for the Under Armour camp and, while he's in town, will stop by Westwood to visit the Bruins.
"I talked to the new offensive line coach, (Hank) Fraley," Ramos said, "and he told me they like my attitude and the way I finish, how technically sound I was on film. All the main components of being an offensive lineman.
"I went out to their camp last summer and performed pretty well. I walked around the campus a bit before I had to fly back home, so I don't know much about the campus. I'm looking forward to knowing more about what they have to offer there."
The in-state programs have been pushing from the start and Ramos said he hasn't given much thought as to whether he intends to stay closer to home for college.
"Right now, with all these schools giving me attention, I've only thought about giving them all an equal chance to recruit me," Ramos said. "I'm willing to move and I'm willing to stay -- I don't really have a preference. I just want to see what each school brings to the table."
Aside from the UCLA visit, Ramos said he's busy building his itinerary. Arizona, Arizona State and Cal are also set to draw visits this offseason, and Ramos could be visiting Duke and Kentucky for camps as well as Iowa State, which has also offered.
"I'm looking to take a trip to every school that has offered, pretty much," Ramos said.
