SoCal UA All-American Camp: Defensive Preview

A look at the top defensive prospects expected at the Under Armour All-American Camp in Southern California on Sunday...


The defensive line group will be strong with both ends and tackles, with a number of Scout 300 prospects expected in Mission Viejo.


Three of the top pass-rushers in the West will be on hand in Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View four-star Elijah Wade, San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon four-star Jeremiah Martin and Salt Lake City (Utah) Olympus four-star Cameron Latu.

Joining them will be another four-star, athlete Tennessee Pututau from Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood as well as Latu's twin, Nathan Latu.

Other defensive ends to keep an eye on include Wilsonville (Ore.) end Draco Bynum, Santa Margarita (Calif.) end Abdul-Malik McClain, Kahuku (Hawaii) end Samson Reed and Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman end Adam Plant.

Inside, two of the top defensive tackles in the region will be in Orange County, Pocatello (Idaho) Highland four-star Tommy Togiai and Calabasas (Calif.) four-star Mykee Irving.

Other defensive tackles of note include Salt Lake City (Utah) East tackle Paul Maile, La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat tackle Aaron Maldonado and Newbury Park (Calif.) tackle Kamakani Crosby.


Some of the premier underclassmen will also be in action this weekend like Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta 2019 defensive end Keyon Ware-Hudson, El Cerrito (Calif.) tackle Franklin Banks and Mesa (Ariz.) Desert Ridge 2020 end Jason Harris.


One of the smaller positional groups at the Under Armour Camp is the linebacker group, but what it lacks in numbers, it makes up for with talent across the board.

Some of the best linebackers in the region will be working out on Sunday from a number of different states.


The headliner is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star Solomon Tuliaupupu, a Scout 50 member as well as Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne four-star Raymond Scott, a commit to USC.

They'll be joined by a number of other four-stars like Denver (Colo.) Mullen's Adrian Jackson, Calabasas (Calif.) 'backer Reggie Hughes, Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton's Osa Masina, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins' Victor Terry, Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic's Eli'jah Winston and Gardena (Calif.) Serra's Merlin Robertson.

And another Pac-12 commit will be there in Antioch (Calif.) linebacker and Cal verbal Omari Harris.

Other backers to watch include Jack Lamb from Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak, Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral's Halid Djibril, Corona (Calif.) Centennial's Camron Pitcher and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei's Jack Genova.


Underclassmen of note include Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins' De'Gabriel Floyd and St. George (Utah) Desert Hills' Noah Sewell.


Easily the most loaded group of defensive prospects at the camp will be the secondary, with some of the elite safeties nationally and top corners in the country expected.

In fact, the region's top three safeties and top three cornerbacks will all be there on Sunday.


San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine four-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart, the West's No. 1 corner, leads a cornerback group that also features Mission Viejo (Calif.) four-star Olaijah Griffin and Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins cornerback Marcus Johnson, a four-star committed to USC,

Other corners of note include Gardena (Calif.) Serra four-star Bryan Addison, Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany four-star Ely Doyle, Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta's Elisha Guidry, Milpitas (Calif.) corner Tariq Bracy and Long Beach (Calif.) Poly's Desmond Talley

The West's top three safeties, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star Jaiden Woodbey, a commit to Ohio State, Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins four-star safety Aashari Crosswell and Fresno (Calif.) Edison four-star Steve Stephens will all be in attendance.

Also there will be Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star safety Stephan Blaylock plus San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon's Jhevon Hill.


From the underclassmen, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star cornerback Chris Steele, a UCLA commit and Gardena (Calif.) Serra four-star Max Williams are two of the best expected along with Westlake (Calif.) 2019 corner Kamren Fabiculanan and Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) 2019 corner Jeremiah Criddell.  

Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins 2020 corner Brandon Jones is the top prospect in his class set to camp.
