Scout100 wide receiver and Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna wide receiver prospect Xavier Williams surprised some with an early verbal commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide just under one month ago, citing family reasons and a strong bond with multiple coaches on the staff.
Two of those noted names, UA assistants Mario Cristobal and Billy Napier, have since left for offensive coordinator positions within the Pac-12.
Williams admitted he was "shocked" by the news as many other programs, including in-state schools Miami (Fl) and Florida, have continued to push for for a potential flip. Mississippi, Tennessee and Clemson have also been in somewhat consistent contact.
